  Genderqueer Analysis of Pornoprophetic Texts

Silencing Trafficked Women
We stay with the prophets in this class but turn from adultery to violence against women, and from feminist analysis to a qenderqueer critique of feminist analysis.

Queer biblical scholar Deryn Guest explains how feminist analysis of these problematic texts presumes heterosexuality as normal or normative, and biological sex itself as given and "natural" rather than culturally conditioned. Guest will show how and why this matters for reading these problematic texts.
